🧵 I’ve just voted Yes in the independence referendum. It felt needed. This is a way for us to raise our voice.

Wherever we go as Bosniaks, we don’t dare use our own greeting, ‘Selam Alejk’, we don’t dare carry out religious ceremonies. This referendum is everything to us. It’s our chance to have our own voice.

I couldn’t wait for this moment, to have the confidence to say that I am a Bosniak, Abdulah Halilović.

Mum and Dad have voted for Bosnian independence.

BREAKING: Bosniaks in Rogatica have been forced into partitioning the town, including its police force. SDS Rogatica Leader Rajko Kušić has created a paramilitary unit of 40-50 men.

BREAKING: Rogatica Serb ‘crisis staff’ have ordered the town’s Bosniak population to be dismissed from their jobs and for their movement to be restricted.

BREAKING: Serbs have declared ‘the establishment of the Serb municipality of Rogatica’. SDS Rogatica leader Rajko Kušić has ordered all Muslims in the municipality to surrender their weapons, under the threat of arrest and/or expulsion.

Like rarely before in its recent history, the Serb people of Bosnia and Herzegovina have shown all their strength and all their determination to never be a servant or slave to Islamic extremism.

We are witnessing the birth of an Islamic island within our country.

An independent Bosnia as it is being offered by veiled Islamic fundamentalism is not acceptable to the Serbs of Bosnia. It would be equal to the empire of the Ottomans, which remains in our memory.
