🧵 Oh my God I can’t believe what we just survived. Uncle Avdija and my Aunty were trying to push a sofa out of their window to sleep on. Mum told me to take two buckets of fresh milk instead of bags.

I put on all my shirts and jumpers so that I wouldn’t need to carry them in a bag. I must have looked ridiculous.

I kept glancing backwards, to see if Serb forces were in sight. I was running as fast as I could with two buckets of milk towards the forest. It was chaos.

Just been told that there were 350 Chetniks, 2 tanks, 3 armoured transporters and 42 trucks that invaded Stoborani. We’re hiding in the forest. I can’t believe we made it out alive.

We’re fleeing our village of Džemat (Srebrenica). The whole village is fleeing. We’re heading North and West.

Running through the woods. Serb forces are shooting at us from all directions with anti-aircraft guns mounted on armoured transporters. Aunt Mila is crying because a tank ran over her beloved cow.

Mum, Dad, my brother Muhamed and I are all safe. We’ve found shelter under a large pine tree. Mashallah we’re all ok.

How the hell is this going to end? We’re being hunted down like animals.

Spending the night outside in the woods. It’s raining heavily.
