Serb forces are at my house in Miljevina village. I’m 15 years old. Why would they be interested in me?

Serb forces have beaten my father with an electric cable and are taking him to the police station.

I’m being taken by Serb soldiers to a house in Foča. I’m scared.

Spent several hours at a house called ‘Karaman’s house’. There were other Bosniak girls there around my age… I’ll never forget the looks on their faces.

🧵 A relative of mine (17 years old) has arrived in Srebrenica. He told me about his time spent captured by Serb forces with his father. He survived a mass execution. His father did not. This is his story.

“I was captured in mid May at home together with my father. They promised that they would not do us any harm. Two weeks later a bus with a police escort arrived in our part of town.

They asked us to take only what was essential and hurry onto the bus. There were thirty-eight of us, chosen to be shot. They lined us up on a meadow facing twelve soldiers and an APC.

Behind a big machine-gun I recognised Željko Lukić, a bus driver who drove the very bus I used to take to school every day. A soldier stepped out of the firing squad. He then made me step out of the line along with four other boys of my age and…

…took us to a spot from which we could not see the execution site. We were walking when we heard the firing behind our backs. I turned round and I swear – maybe I only imagined it – but I do swear I saw my father fall.”
