We’ve run out of food.

Dad has decided to sell his pistol for grain. He’s been told that he can get a lot of grain for it. Salvation from hunger is still possible.

We’ve found a buyer for Dad’s pistol. He’ll give us 80kg of wheat, 20kg of corn and 20kg of potatoes. Mashallah!

The food arrived. I took handfuls of wheat and let the grain run through my fingers. I enjoyed it enormously and kept saying under my breath, ‘Life. Life.’
