A ceasefire has been agreed in Srebrenica. I’m confident this time that it’s a good one. For the previous ceasefire one of the sides wanted to continue fighting; the Bosnian presidency. Now President Izetbegović has asked for the cessation of hostilities, I am optimistic.

Morillon has left some of his troops in Srebrenica – as a guarantee that he’ll be back, I guess. Srebrenica now has its first UNPROFOR soldiers: ten or so members of the general’s escorts plus a three-member team of UN Military Observers.

A food convoy has also entered the town, but the Chetnik offensive on Srebrenica is continuing, with even greater intensity. It’s like Mladić believes the UN will protect Srebrenica and wants to act before it happens.
