I’m free. After months of torture, I am free. What has been done to me and my sisters-in-captivity is an evil that must be known. We are Muslim women and we have been raped.

Today our comrade, Adil Mušović, was murdered by Serb camp guards. He’d been called out and taken to warden Bojić. Sounds of beating could be heard for a short time, followed by a pistol shot.

I’m leaving Srebrenica on the UN convoy with my baby. I feel remorse for leaving. My husband, Fadil, was holding onto our baby until it was time to go. I don’t know when or if I will ever see him again. I don’t know if he’ll get to see his baby grow up.

I asked the Danish UN troops stationed in the town if I could use their telephone cable to speak to my girlfriend, Mirza. It’s been a year since we’ve spoken to one another. The UN troop smiled and said, “Do you know how much one minute of conversation would cost?” (1/2)

I said no. He said, “you don’t want to know,” and refused to let me use the telephone cable. So I ran home, wrote a letter to Mirza, and handed it to him just before the convoy left the town. He said he’d mail it for me. (2/2)

It’s the time for “food” to be distributed between the prisoners. We’ve noticed there’s an empty plate. Bećir Ćutahija has been taken to Vinko Bojić’s office. We can hear the sounds of beating through the walls.
