A brief truce meant people came out to play a football tournament. Four shells fell onto the playground. Pieces of flowing hot metal sprayed all over the people, tearing their bodies apart.

Death caused by shells always reminds me of how fragile we are, and shrapnel wounds never cease to horrify me. Four explosions left about a hundred young people dead on the ground…

Serb forces have shelled Srebrenica’s playground, while civilians were playing football. 14 dead bodies have been confirmed thus far. Human flesh clings to the schoolyard fence. One child, about 6 years old, has been decapitated. I do not look forward to closing my eyes tonight.

People had come together to try to have a little fun. Suddenly, in the early afternoon, a shower of shells fell onto the town. Terrified and distraught people were running from the direction of the school.
