I’m heading into the woods with my two brothers. Mum is at the @unproforbih base in Potočari. I have a loaf of bread and some cold meat she gave me. This will keep me alive during this trek.

Serbs are shelling us all the time. There are casualties everywhere. The Serbs are firing at us from anti-aircraft weapons.

I’ve just said goodbye to my husband, Sead. He’s heading into the woods with the others. I’m heading to the @unproforbih base in Potočari. I don’t know if I’ll ever see him again. Maybe I’ll dream about him.

I’m walking through the woods to Tuzla. I’m with my two sons, Fahrudin and Sabahudin. Sabahudin is only 11 years old. God help us.

Fahro had a nightmare tonight. He came crying to me. He’d seen his dead mother. She’d told him “Fahro, my son, you won’t go from here, you will stay here with me”. I’ve told him it was just a nightmare. He’s still crying, tears running down his cheeks. His eyes are so big.

I’m heading into the woods with my dad, Edhem. We’re fleeing from Serb forces to try and make it to free Tuzla. Dad is holding my hand the entire time.

🧵 Serb forces are committing atrocities against the wounded patients of the Srebrenica wartime hospital, whom we transferred to the @unproforbih base in Potočari.

I’m in contact with some of the nurses who stayed with the wounded after I fled. They’re messaging me to tell me that Serb forces are rounding up the patients in camps and killing them.

I’ve been told that a segment of them have been killed in Potočari (@unproforbih what the hell are you doing to keep people safe exactly?). Another group were selected and have been taken to Bratunac.

Colonel Franken of @unproforbih has just struck off @nuhanovichasan’s brother’s name from the list of UN staff to be saved from the clutches of Serb forces. He’s just struck off a life.
