I’m noticing a trend in Yugoslavia’s media. There are fewer Muslim journalists and Serbs seem to be in positions in power. Yutel (Yugo state news) is reporting that the People’s Army will restore order. For now I believe them.

🧵 Today I witnessed my first killing of the war. My wife and I were driving home to Osmače village (Srebrenica). We saw two bodies at the end of the road. I stopped the car.

We have decided to evacuate our village. We need to get as many people out as we can. Men of fighting age will remain.

A group of workers approached me and told me “don’t stop”. They said Bahrudin and Meho had been killed. But I stopped. I looked at Bahrudin and Meho’s bodies. I will never forget that sight.

Defending Osmače village (Srebrenica) is a nightmare but we’re staving off Serb forces for now. About 500-600 shells have been fired onto Osmače today. We’ve never seen such weapons before. This feels like an apocalypse. But we march on.

The defenders of Osmače have no weapons left and no way of getting food to the people. We’d been in contact with other Muslim villages but now everything is shut off. The village is surrounded by Serb forces. I don’t know how much longer we can hold out.

The only battalion defending Osmače village has fled. We had no choice. Kragljivoda municipality has fallen and we were about to be next. The village population has fled to Srebrenica town. (1/2)

Everyday since 8 May 1992 we have had 500-700 shells fired onto Osmače from the direction of Serbia. The greatest evil committed against our people has been committed by Serbia. (2/2)

I’ve gathered all available professors, teachers, and other professionals. Together we have agreed to take in the children on the streets of Srebrenica and set up a continuation of their primary and/or secondary education. (1/2)
