🧵 My wife has been killed by a shell fired by Serb forces. She was inside when the shell destroyed our house. When I entered she was sitting there, lifeless, her eyes out of their sockets.

Amid the madness, I found myself pushing her eyes back into the sockets. Our eldest child was crying. “Oh Dad! My mum has been killed!”

The little one, ten years old, said, “What am I going to do?! I don’t have a mum.”

I am besides myself. My wife is gone and our home is destroyed. I’m taking the kids to Srebrenica. It’s the only place I know which hasn’t fallen.

Thanks to God that my injured daughter is being evacuated out of Srebrenica today. She’ll be safe in Tuzla.

Oh God, I’ve lost my Fahro in the woods. I was helping some other children cross a road. When I turned back around he was gone. I’ve lost my boy. I promised him I wouldn’t leave him. Please, if anyone moving through the woods sees him, message me. I last saw him at Lolići.

I’m walking through the woods to Tuzla. I’m with my two sons, Fahrudin and Sabahudin. Sabahudin is only 11 years old. God help us.

Fahro had a nightmare tonight. He came crying to me. He’d seen his dead mother. She’d told him “Fahro, my son, you won’t go from here, you will stay here with me”. I’ve told him it was just a nightmare. He’s still crying, tears running down his cheeks. His eyes are so big.

I’ve been wounded en route to Tuzla. Sabahudin is besides himself. He’s already lost one parent. “My dad has perished. What will I do now, Mum?”. I’m fine though, and I’m being carried by some kind men the remainder of the way to Tuzla. We’ll make it. Sabahudin and me.
