The ICRC has visited the Batković detention camp in Bijeljina. We are aware of reports that the youngest and eldest prisoners, together with the most visibly tortured detainees, could have been temporarily removed from the camp before our arrival.

The present situation in Bosnia calls for the creation of zones, which need international protection. (1/2)

For this protection to be effective, the parties to the conflict must facilitate the deployment of UNPROFOR contingents, and the United Nations forces’ mandate must be expanded.
