Muslim leaders have fled Bratunac after being threatened by Serb paramilitaries. They’ve effectively surrendered the town to Serb forces.

I’m hiding in the woods with Dad. I can’t reveal my location but we’re near Voljavica village. We’re watching Serb cars patrolling through the town. The cars belong to Vojislav Šešelj’s paramilitary group, the White Eagles and the far-right Serb Radical Party. I’m scared.

Paramilitary groups from Serbia have arrived in Bratunac. We’ve fled to stay with a relative nearby. I’m scared.

Srebrenica hospital is empty. Serb forces are attacking the town and the majority of the population are already fleeing. As I watch the stream of people fleeing from the hospital window, I have no doubt that they must save themselves and I must stay. I hope I survive the day.

My hometown of Srebrenica is on fire. Our apartments have been destroyed by Serb forces. Luckily I’d already escaped to the hills before they arrived. Serb forces transported our furniture out of the apartments before setting the town on fire. Sickening.

🧵 Bratunac has been attacked by Serbian soldiers. I’m going to try to write a thread of the main events. I’m still shaking from what’s happened.

I was inside with my brother and sister, when a neighbour came over crying. She said something was happening in Bratunac. She said there were a lot of soldiers, a lot of trucks moving through, and they were stopping people constantly.
